The Huawei Mate 50 Pro, Best of the Brand in 2022

We knew about the new Huawei Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro at the beginning of September, the two most powerful phones of the brand for this 2022. Then, they were only launched in China, but today we are witnessing the global launch of the ‘Pro’ model, including Spanish territory.

The most powerful of these Mate 50 family lands in our country with identical specifications to what was seen a few months ago and with a launch promotion that includes a smart watch. Of course, it continues to come without GMS (Google Mobile Services) as has been the case since 2019 with the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

Price and availability of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro

The new Huawei mate 50 pro is in pre-sale starting today and it will be in two color options: black and silver. It can be purchased online through the Huawei website and it is expected that it will also be available soon in other stores such as Amazon.

It will be available in a single configuration of 8+256 GB of memories. Likewise, Huawei confirms that they will give away the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro, a watch that we have already been able to test and that will be included in the price of 1400 euros for the terminal.

With the most powerful of Qualcomm (for now), although without 5G

Although we are less than a week away from the presentation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the truth is that the best Qualcomm chip to date is still the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

And this is the main engine of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro, albeit which is accompanied by a configuration of 8 GB of RAM and with a storage of 256 GB. Of course, it has a version of the 4G modem and not 5G, something that has already been common in the latest smartphones of the brand.

As far as the battery is concerned, it has a capacity of 4,700 mAh. It is true that it is far from the 5,000 mAh that is already standard in the high-end range, but on paper it does not seem that it is going to be a drama either. In addition, fast charging of up to 66W by cable is added, while for wireless charging you can get a charge of up to 50W.

On the front of this Huawei Mate 50 Pro we find a 6.74-inch OLED panel to which is added a 120 Hz refresh rate with FullHD + resolution. Of course, in the upper part we find the presence of a more than remarkable ‘notch’, in which both the front camera and the 3D sensors for facial recognition are housed.

As far as cameras are concerned, this device has a 13-megapixel front camera housed in the aforementioned ‘notch’. For the rear we find a circular module in which three cameras of 50, 13 and 64 megapixels are housed, being a main angle, a wide angle and a telephoto lens respectively.

As expected, they do not have GMS, but they do have EMUI 13 and HMS (Huawei Mobile Service), which include a pack of native apps under the nickname ‘Petal’ and the Huawei App Gallery as an app store.

This is still not as complete as Google Play, but from Huawei they emphasize the improvements obtained since its launch, including more and more popular apps and quick access to download APKs of those that are not available.
